Teachers Across Borders runs workshop programs in four locations across Cambodia each year.  The dates correspond with the typical summer breaks for teachers in both hemispheres. 

  • Each workshop attracts 250-300 teachers, with approximately 20-25 Cambodian teachers attending each class run over 5-8 days depending on location.
  • The workshop program is held at the provincial teachers colleges in each city. Workshop presenters work with the same group of Khmer teachers for the 5-8 days.
  • Typically the workshops commence at 7:30 -11:30.
  • Some programs have an afternoon session from 2:30-4:30.
  • Workshops are conducted with the assistance of a translator.
  • Workshop leaders design the program with support from previous presenters, and prepare resources in line with the expressed needs of the Khmer teachers and their national curriculum.


Types of Workshops


The workshop program at each location covers kindergarten, primary and secondary sectors as well as educational administration. Workshops include teaching methodologies in areas such as teaching English as a second language, science (chemistry, biology, physics, and earth science), mathematics, history and geography, literacy and numeracy at all levels. Workshops are also run in various aspects of educational administration, classroom management, the integration of technology into the classroom and critical thinking skills.
