Kampong Cham

About Kampong Cham

Kampong Cham, the third largest city in Cambodia is situated on the Mekong River, north of Phnom Penh. It takes about two hours to travel from Phnom Penh. It is a wealthy town and has a strong French colonial influence.

This is the newest programme for Teachers Across Borders and started in 2010.

The programme is conducted in the very large high school (year 11& 12) that has 6,000 students.

Kampong Cham is not a tourist town but travelling through the countryside, past the fruit and vegetable farms, and local villages (including several stilt house villages along the Mekong) is reward enough for most. Here are a couple of temples in the area worth checking out. Thousand year old Nokor Temples is the most famous in the area.
